Last Minute Party

So I have been on the fence for over a month now about doing a party for my son Seth. I've been trying to cut back on big parties especially for the older boys since they've had a party every year almost. I could tell he really wanted one so I finally decided to do one for him. Only problem is that his birthday is in a few days!!! I usually take 3 months to plan a party. I like the little details and I also like having everything done before. We'll as much as I can do. So I sent out an evite and so far the turnout has been low. Seems like everyone is on vacation and it's hard for him to contact his friends from school since his birthday is in summer. I'm still going to go all out and give the best party I can.
He loves the ocean/beach and has been boogie boarding for years now. He also just started surfing lessons. I thought what could be better than a surf themed summer party for him?! I have done many luau themed parties from him over the years.
So I browsed surf parties online and I found 2 cute blogs full of ideas for the theme and have come up with some stuff. There was one Retro surf themed party with Jello Oranges and Surfboard cookies and I knew I had to incorporate those into his party.
The other party had actual surfboards as props. I don't have anyone to borrow them from and since the are so pricey even used, I think I'll see if my mil can make some. One cute thing I did take from that party was a kiddie pool as a cooler.
So far I made the goodie bags. I cut surfboards out of this cute paper I found at Michaels. The goodie bags will be given out at the beginning of the party so the kids can play with the stuff. I got splash balls, water guns and beach balls. I think I'm going to add shark fruit snacks to them too.
We'll I have a ton to do. Can't wait to see how it all comes out!
